Angela KindredA trip to Farmhouse Kitchen is a visit to grandma’s house– fresh, Southern cooking served in a warm friendly atmosphere.

History: Owned by Angela Kindred, Farmhouse Kitchen opened in Hampstead in 2009. It was formally Country Cafe on the Troy Highway, which opened in 2001.

The Food: Farmhouse Kitchen serves up generous helpings of real country cooking with a different meat and veggie menu each weekday for lunch, and offers refined Southern cuisine for dinner. The Kitchen’s fried chicken and banana pudding are said by some to be the city’s best, and the fried fruit pies are amazing. Other favorites are meatloaf, fried pork chops, squash casserole, and fried green tomatoes.

Focus: Farmhouse Kitchen has made a commitment to prepare its food using only the freshest locally grown produce available, soon to include fruits and veggies grown at Hampstead Farms. Taking advantage of Hampstead Farms’ harvest will allow Farmhouse Kitchen to literally serve its customers from the farm to the table, ensuring better tasting, healthier food while also supporting the community.

The Family: Farmhouse Kitchen is family owned and operated with family members working hands-on in the restaurant daily. Angela’s parents eat lunch at the restaurant and have come to be known as Me-Mother and Paw-Paw by the regulars.

Distinguishing Factors: Farmhouse Kitchen prides itself on its delicious dishes, but also on its exceptional customer service. It is the combination of both that has earned the eatery a large, loyal following.

Philosophy: Farmhouse Kitchen is more about food for the soul than food for the body. Angela also believes her restaurant is a place for making memories while gathered around a table full of good food.

Secret to success: Angela credits God and prayer as well as customers and staff that have become like family for the restaurant’s success.

Catering: Angela Kindred also owns Oh My! Catering.
